Seedy City, an ephemeral installation by the artist Matt Pych, will be on view in the gardens of Le Petit Versailles beginning on Saturday, August 1st. The installation will be composed of birdhouses that are made of birdseed presenting our feathered friends with the choice between food and shelter. These are two necessities that most would prefer not to choose between and the piece brings to mind ideas of overconsumption of one’s environment. Seedy City will remain in the gardens until all that remains are the skeletal frames of the houses that once stood.

Matt Pych is an interdisciplinary artist based in the neighborhood of Jackson Heights in Queens, NY. Temporary installations serve as a major component of his varied work as he believes that there is meaning in the transient. He also enjoys exhibiting his work outside of the expected environs for viewing artwork and creating pieces that are integrated into their surroundings in unexpected ways. More information about the artist and his work can be found at www.mattpych.com.
