RAIN OR SHINE!
John C Gonzalez and Thomas Willis have created Secret Garden, 2014, for Le Petit Versailles, a series of temporary site-responsive works existing within the immediate environment of the space. Using available materials located within the site and arranging them in creative and specific ways, the artists have constructed temporary sculptures, drawings, and performances that are made to be experienced during the one-night reception event.
This project is a curatorial reorganization of the available objects that ordinarily exist within the garden. As viewers enter the space they will find some of the works to be candid constructions, while others will be nestled away within the myriad of vegetation and objects, appearing no different than the effects of natural phenomena of the environment. The works themselves will not be identified, however, visitors will be invited to discover them as they examine the nuances of the garden.
Secret Garden is less about locating the presence of the physical artworks and more about a heightened (re)examination of Le Petit Versailles as a whole.
